Innovative quarry optimization ideas
joe steigerIn 2020, fleet managers, quarry managers and performance managers have exciting new opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency with existing assets. In many cases, quarries just need to connect the scale sensors they already own. This presentation shows how easy it can be for quarries to use new smartscales and monitoring tools to: help operators get the job done; track material flow from pit to loadout; improve safety across the site; provide outstanding customer service; and identify areas for improvement.

Speaker: Joe Steiger, Eastern Sales Manager, Trimble Loadrite.

Maximizing your cone crusher performance at Quarry Tech
MattGertenEvery aggregate producer wants peak crushing performance, but not everyone knows how to achieve it. Getting there may require just a few tweaks or even a total rebuild. To remain at peak levels requires proactive maintenance practices, combined with expert consultation and continuing education. When operations truly maximize cone crusher performance, the perennial paybacks include lower cost per ton, greater plant uptime, increased production capacities of highly saleable material and reduced maintenance and wear costs. Matt Gerten, product manager for jaw and cone crushers for Superior Industries, will tackle these subjects to help maximize your cone crusher performance.

Speaker: Matt Gerten, Product Manager – Jaw and Cone Crushers, Superior Industries.
11:45am to 12:30pm
Increasing your uptime with Bearing Maintenance Practices for Quarries
MBorsellaHeavy loads and contamination require heavy duty protection. Given that mining and quarrying are among the toughest of industrial environments, dust and water contamination and shock loading posing a real threat to plant and machinery, Mario Borsella, Manager, Field Services Engineering Group, NTN Bearing Corporation of Canada, will discuss how bearings can be protected to enhance machine life and reliability. This discussion will spotlight bearing solutions for conveyors and will provide an overview of the common failure modes associated with bearings used on conveyor applications. Mario will discuss how to implement bearing best maintenance practices to avoid costly bearing failures.

Speaker: Mario Borsella, P.Eng, Manager, Field Services Engineering Group, NTN Bearing Corporation of Canada.

An update on Canadian drone regulations, compliance management and training
In June 2019, Transport Canada released new regulations regarding remotely piloted aviation systems (RPAS) operated in visual line of sight, bringing Canadian drone law up to international standards. They established the foundation for Canadians to be able to fully leverage these types of systems in tech, education and industry. Through online registration and knowledge testing, we will have safer skies and a clear path to compliance.

Speaker: TBD.
2:15pm to 3:00pm
Plug and play automation
Spencer KosslMulti-plant setups bring complexity to sites in terms of control, maintenance and safety. This presentation will discuss how automation can connect both portable and modular systems together for a simple low-cost solution that improves communication and diagnostics.

Speaker: Spencer Kossl, Applications & New Business Development Manager, Terex MPS.
